Personal Protection Business Development Manager - China

Summary of the role

Develop profitable sales growth across the full portfolio of Coats Personal Protection products e.g. Firefly Thread, FlamePro Yarns Fabrics, and achieve the required sales and gross margin targets through direct technical / commercial involvement. 

Key accountabilities

  • Develop relationships with key fabric producers, garment makers and end users (Military, Firefighter, Industrial)
  • Identify target applications for Coats Personal Protection offering targeting applications that needs requisite protection plus aesthetics, comfort, whilst balancing the cost requirements
  • Influence the Innovation and Technical team to develop market driven solutions and drive the closure of targeted programs
  • In collaboration with the Innovation teams ensure product / process development meets the timeframe and milestones to the relevant programs being driven by end users through the textile chain
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of customer specifications, unmet needs and, jointly with innovation, develop solutions
  • Based on solutions selling concepts, lead the development of the marketing and communications plan to develop a broad customer base in the Chinese cluster
  • Lead (through the matrix) the Chinese team of Technical Sales specialists in order to achieve accelerated penetration within this segment - will need to provide technical training and commercial / marketing support
  • Together with the Business Development Director / Supply Chain Directors ensure capability and capacity will be in place to support any secured programs
  • Follow key market trends to understand opportunities and risks

Key result areas

  • Develop an extensive portfolio of solutions which utilise the key Coats’ product portfolio of Firefly Thread and FlamePro yarn and fabrics
  • Develop relationships with key decision-makers and the end users i.e. Program Specifiers, Key H+S Engineers / Officers and Development teams in the textile chain
  • Increase brand awareness of Coats throughout the Chinese Personal Protection Market
  • Develop and deliver winning propositions to secure programs of scale for Coats
  • Negotiate and close the programs maximising returns for Coats
