Infrastructure Enterprise Architect

Opportunity: Infrastructure Enterprise Architect

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Role Purpose: 
  • To be responsible for creating and maintaining the enterprise architecture model and the IT roadmap for area of Infrastructure / Network/ Enterprise application and Security
  • To establish and maintain a high level of business engagement; to inspire confidence in delivery and co-operation between IT, end users and business management
Key Accountabilities:
  • Support the Dir of Technology Solutions in developing and communicating the Enterprise Architecture and Roadmap for the next 3-5 years that is bought into by the business 
  • Be the recognised architecture expert for Infrastructure / Network/ Enterprise application and Security.  Have overall accountability for the following in area of expertise:
    • Developing and maintaining an Enterprise Architecture (EA) which is aligned to the overall IT roadmap
    • Developing policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of technology across the company 
    • Keeping abreast with developments in the IT industry and retail market space to ensure that the architectures are kept in line with industry standard and only deviate for commercial benefit.  Co-ordinate the identification and assessment of new and emerging technologies and promote awareness among staff and business.  
    • Creating an IT roadmap to articulate steps required to achieve desired state as outlined in the EA
  • Ensure integrity of the EA, by making sure all of the various components are integrated and reconciling any conflicting concerns of different stakeholders
    • Developing the architecture principles and standards for area of expertise
  • Ensure the standards and IT roadmap is understood within the IT Division and across the Business Units 
  • Drive the adoption of the standards through supporting the Solution Architects 
  • Define the tool set to be used by the Architecture team
    • Supporting Solution Architects/ Engineers by providing advice and direction on solution options and designs 
    • Identifying the IT and Business risks in architectural decisions and roadmaps
    • Ensuring that investments are made which best support the commercial requirements of Coats
    • Working with external suppliers to ensure that the appropriate technology direction is set with respect to systems, data and technical infrastructure
  • Support the Director of Technology Solutions to develop the integrated capital plan
  • For the Enterprise Architect role; optimise information management approaches through an understanding of evolving business needs and technology capabilities especially by embracing cloud services
Skills & Expertise:
  • Enterprise application landscape designs ( SAP etc. ) and Infrastructure design on Premise and in cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience as an enterprise architect or a solution architect on major programs of work, with deep subject matter expertise in relevant area of Integration / Information Management / Infrastructure and Security
  • Significant experience of designing solutions that operate on the core technologies 
  • Proven ability to deliver flexible, reliable, supportable, cost effective IT solutions 
  • Demonstrable experience in IT Industry standards, services, design, architecture principles design, architecture views and viewpoint design, building block design, solutions modelling and systems behaviour
  • Demonstrates an understanding of strategic issues, and as an authority on the development life-cycle
  • Good experience of IT Architecture (and underlying frameworks such as TOGAF) including the development (and ensuring adherence to) Architecture principles and standards
  • Proficient in methods and techniques for structured reviews, including reviews of non-functional requirements, technical documents, test plans, business cases and other key deliverables.   
  • Demonstrable aptitude for complex logical thinking which is effectively harnessed through learning IT techniques and tools
  • Makes customer-oriented decisions and shares great stories of exceptional customer service
  • Remains visible to customers as the face of IT to listen to their concerns and share these with others
  • Always remains focused on the most critical / impactful task to hand using all resources efficiently and effectively
  • Takes advantage of every opportunity to communicate relevant information remaining mindful of the audience (e.g. translates complex/technical issues to meet the audience's competency level)
  • Proactively identifies areas for improvement, shares lessons learnt with colleagues
  • Certification in Cloud architecture
  • Certifications in Network technology sector
  • TOGAF preferred
  • Experience with Designing enterprise application landscapes
  • Embracing Design and Build operational model
