Opportunity: Key Account Executive

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina


Role purpose:

To drive profitable sales growth in the key accounts within the designated territory/account list and to develop new business growth opportunities that will support the profitable growth strategy for Coats.


Key Accountabilities:

Essential Functions

Deliver sales plans and financial objectives

  • Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing all phases of sales plan with assigned accounts.
  • Communicate any competitive developments or activities with assigned accounts.
  • Maintain records as required to manage sales forecast, sales volume, and customer analysis.
  • Support internal teams with estimations/forecasts on new product launches.
  • Support on negotiation of supply contract agreements and commercial terms.
  • Develop financial & contribution estimations on customer special projects and promotional activities
  • Create tactical plans to fill sales shortfall or sales upside on own customers to support total company sales plan


Satisfy customer requirements

  • Create, strengthen and maintain personal relationship with customers.
  • Demonstrate a strong awareness and understanding of the customer’s needs.
  • Develop creative solutions to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Present at all times a strong product knowledge to support customer decisions.


Grow market share in line with business strategy.

  • Pursue potential opportunities for market share growth within existing customer base and exploit opportunities to displace competition and/or increase shelf space.
  • Responsible for the presentation of all new and current marketing programs & new products to assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to seek and develop innovative ways to merchandize Coats portfolio


Manages Customer relations / Key Accounts

  • Manages directly the relationships with the principal customers, specifically the relationship with buyers and overall cross-functional contacts in the customer team (DMM, Category Managers, Marketing, Digital Mkt, Demand Planning)


Manages key internal stakeholder relations

  • Lead Coats internal cross-functional collaboration with Marketing teams, Supply Chain & finance on customers specific projects and provide all necessary data & insights for high-level decisions to management team.
  • Actively collaborate with market and customer insights for M/L term Marketing & Commercial strategy plans on a regular basis


Non-Essential Functions

  • Other special projects as assigned by Management and or/VP of Sales & Marketing
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Coats employees.


Physical Demands

  • Lift at least 20 pounds
  • Bend, stand, reach, and sit for periods of time
  • Ability to make decisions with limited information


Education, Qualifications and Experience:


  • Business management degree with focus on sales & marketing
  • 8 plus years of experience and proven success in leading sales efforts, in a variety of business environments, consumer package goods preferred.
  • Strong communication, presentation skills and negotiation skills
  • Good planning, organizational and time management skills
  • A high degree of self-motivation, drive and a sense of urgency
  • Excellent teamwork & collaboration capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills & empathy
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook)
  • Flexibility for travel up to 50% of the time




  • Knowledge of resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of resources
  • Ability to resolve numerous concurrent priorities
  • Consumer packaged goods &/or Craft  background a plus
