Opportunity: Senior Accountant

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Role purpose:

To manage certain financial functions for Coats & Clark. Oversee the preparation of monthly account analyses and maintain the accuracy of the detailed general ledger.  Direct the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statement preparation as well as the preparations of forecasts and the annual budgets.  Responsible for finance business support to various managerial and operational units, as delegated.

Key Accountabilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for Financial Accounting and Reporting
    • Responsible for the preparation of month-end financial statements for Coats & Clark.
    • Responsible for reviewing all monthly department expenses in comparison to budget / forecast, explaining any variances and reporting to the Finance Director.
    • Monthly account reconciliations and reviews
    • Internal control & policy adherence
    • Provides assistance with the preparation of the weekly sales flash and related input into the BCS.
    • Responsible for monthly data input in the BCS systems including:  balance sheet, P & L, headcount, reorg, plant performance balance sheet and stock reports.
  • Support the preparation of forecasts and annual budget
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of the year-end reporting package for the UK and auditor’s review.
  • Preparation of monthly internal management reports and special reports as requested by management.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for accounts payable

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Other projects as assigned by Finance Director C & C

Physical Demands:

  • Lift at least 20 pounds
  • Bend, stand, reach, kneel, squat and sit for periods of time
  • Ability to make decisions with limited information
  • Ability to work in areas without air-conditioning

Education, Qualifications and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience post qualification experience.
  • Strong financial accounting background
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue growth opportunities.
  • Experience of multi-site business operations.
  • Action focused.
  • Advanced interpersonal relationship skills at a variety of levels and greatly differing social and business settings
  • Gravitas and overt leadership skills


  • CPA
  • Exposure to global business dynamics.
  • Experience of SAP based environment
