Opportunity: New Business Specialist Composites US

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Summary of role:
  • Create new market entry with special focus in the Composites sector to generate $8 m / year new profitable sales in USA within 2 - 3 years, and exploit Coats footprint to globalise this business.
  • Develop new products in collaboration with R&D, and commercialise to generate this level of sales at approximate gross margin of 30% or higher.
Key accountabilities:
  • Engage with R&D team to explore new market entry into Composites and other non-traditional market sectors
  • Develop new products and provide direction to establish bulk manufacturing capabilities in the US
  • Develop industry expertise and find pilot customer prospects who would be willing to anchor development efforts
  • Get products approved at major customers and commence profitable sales to reach target sales level
  • Explore new performance materials sectors
Background & qualifications / Skills & expertise:
(Essential)
  • 4 year college degree
  • Direct sales or R&D experience in Composites sector
  • Strong track record with Sales or Techno-Commercial and manufacturing experience in high value performance material markets
  • Track record of closing sales and delivering on margin commitments, especially in start- up operations
  • Ability to engage with R&D, Technical, Engineering and Manufacturing personnel within customer / prospect organisations
  • Be willing to travel extensively
  • High energy, self-driven and achievement orientation
(Desirable)
  • Engineering or Chemistry or R&D background
  • Preferably with Automotive or Aerospace or Oil & Gas R&D background with knowledge of how Composites can shape future markets
  • Knowledge of business complexity / long approval cycles
  • Relationship skills to work in a matrix organisation
  • Ability to manage cross-cultural markets
