Opportunity: Junior QA Tester


Location: Derby, Derbyshire


Role Purpose:

We are currently seeking a Junior QA Tester to support our Senior QA Tester in ensuring the quality of all the products produced by the company.


Key Accountabilities:

Based in our Derby office you will report in to our Senior Tester, supporting the test process by creating test cases, scripts and data, and where necessary assisting in the execution of automated tests.

Once you understand the underlying system architecture and requirements, you will perform manual tests on all products prior to release, communicating any issues to all levels within the company.

Other duties will include, the pre-configuration of systems and conversion of data in preparation for the implementation of new systems and/or upgrades to existing client’s systems. You will also track and maintain defects in the defect management system and assist the development team to ensure proper resolution.

Your role may also involve other activities or special projects as reasonably requested by Fast React.


Education, Qualifications & Experience:

Essential Skills:

  • A structured and methodical approach   
  • Excellent attention to detail         
  • Good Analytical skills - the ability to analyse and describe complex functions
  • Able to explain test process ideas
  • Ability to articulate scenarios which cause software defects both verbally and written
  • Confidence to challenge workflows and business processes for improvement        
  • Numerate and a good communicator with personnel at all levels 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills            
  • Self-motivated and capable of working alone, or as part of a small team   
  • Flexible approach to changing work tasks, a positive team player
  • A positive, hardworking team player        
  • Good time management skills – able to organise and maintain own schedule         
  • Experience with personal computers, both hardware and software - especially the MS Windows™ family of operating systems.
  • Experience of manual software testing to include:
    • Creating test cases from user or technical documents.
    • Raising new bugs in the defect management system
    • Executing test runs of product releases
  • Experience of MS Office™ - MS Word, Excel, Visio etc. 
  • Experience of Networks and Networking
  • Experience of databases – Access, MS SQL Server or SQL Express
