Automotive Composites New Business Development Manager - USA

Summary of the role

The New Business Development Manager, Automotive Composites, will drive the sales of Coats’ key new Composite Technologies i.e. Synergex and Lattice, into the automotive sector.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop relationships with key automotive OEMs and suppliers
  • Identify target applications for Coats Composites offering targeting applications that needs lightweighting, formability while balancing cost
  • Influence the technical team to develop market driven solutions and drive the closure of targeted programs
  • In collaboration with Coats Composite Technical teams, ensure product / process development meets the timeframe and milestones to capture the relevant programs being driven through the OEM’s and Tier 1’s
  • Lead development of compelling marketing tools to broadly communicate and influence the automotive market
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of customer specifications, unmet needs and, jointly with technology, develop solutions / product development
  • Based on solutions selling concepts, lead the development of the marketing and communications plan to develop a broad customer base
  • Drive the sales process / buying cycle at the Tier 1’s and OEM’s
  • Be able to negotiate multi-million dollar projects ensuring programs are secured while maximising the margin for Coats
  • Together with the Business Development Director / Supply Chain Directors ensure capability and capacity will be in place to support any secured programs 
  • Follow key market trends (i.e. lightweighting) to understand opportunities and risks

Key result areas

  • Composite Sales into Automotive in NAM of $5m by 2020 and $20m by 2022
  • Develop an extensive portfolio of solutions which utilises the key Coats’ technologies of Synergex and Lattice
  • Develop relationships with key decision-makers at the OEM’s i.e. Program Managers, Key Engineers and Designers
  • Increase brand awareness of Coats throughout the US automotive industry
  • Develop and deliver winning propositions to secure programs of scale for Coats
  • Negotiate and close the programs maximising return for Coats
