Oil & Gas New Business Development Manager - USA

Summary of the role

To drive the sales of Coats’ products (i.e. reinforcement composite yarns and tapes) into the Oil & Gas market (sales target $5m by 2020 and $20m by 2022) and develop relationships with Oil & Gas suppliers.


Key accountabilities

  • Identification of sub-sectors within Oil & Gas where Coasts products have a fit
  • Influence the Technical team to develop market driven solutions and drive the closure of targeted programs
  • In collaboration with Coats Technical teams ensure product / process development meets the timeframe and milestones to capture the relevant programs being driven through the key suppliers to the Oil & Gas Industry
  • Lead development of compelling marketing tools to broadly communicate and influence the Oil & Gas market
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of customer specifications, unmet needs and, jointly with technology, develop solutions
  • Based on solutions selling concepts, lead development of marketing and communications plan to develop a broad customer base
  • Drive the sales process / buying cycle with key customers and influenecers
  • Be able to negotiate multi-million-dollar projects ensuring programs are secured while maximising the margin for Coats
  • Together with the Business Development Director / Supply Chain Directors ensure capability and capacity will be in place to support any secured programs
  • Follow key market trends to understand opportunities and risks 

Key result areas

  • Oil & Gas sales of $5m by 2020 and $20m by 2022
  • Develop an extensive portfolio of solutions which utilises key Coats’ technologies
  • Develop relationships with key decision-makers at the OEM’s i.e. Program Managers, Key Engineers and Designers
  • Increase brand awareness of Coats throughout the Oil & Gas industryDevelop and deliver winning propositions to secure programs of scale for Coats 
  • Negotiate and close the programs maximising returns for Coats
