Opportunity: Director of Health & Safety, India Cluster

Location: Ambasamudram, India

Role purpose:

To deliver and support the entire Health and Safety agenda for the India Cluster covering multiple Locations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for setting and executing our Health and Safety strategy to lower risk, reduce injuries, and ultimately help Coats become a global leader in Health and Safety. 
  • Setting global policies and auditing compliance with them
  • Overseeing quality control for incident management and Intelex, our new Health and Safety reporting tool
  • Technical mentoring for members of local H&S teams
  • Acting as Subject Matter Experts for global programmes and objectives
  • Managing a Safety Alert and best practice sharing process
  • This position is the corporate Head of Health and Safety for India. This position will report to Global Head of Health and Safety, with the dotted line to the local market leadership
  • This will include driving safety culture among employees and their family members, road safety awareness, implementing Behaviour Based Safety (BBS)
  • The incumbent has to ensure India site’s compliance for all EHS legal requirements
  • Continuously improve the EHS culture, EHS awareness and accountability systems
  • Deliver “Zero” injury awareness to all employees.
  • Transform the EHS standard, policy and procedures to other Business units as required.
  • Ensure India Cluster site’s compliance for all EHS legal requirements to ensure no internal or external litigation
  • Ensure that training and communication initiatives are implemented and updated to maintain a high H&S awareness in all units
  • Establish accurate monitoring and reporting systems and ensure efficient reporting to the Group as required

Education, Qualifications and Experience:


  • Qualification : ME in Industrial Safety with BE / B Tech Background
  • Nebosh IGC Certification is mandatory
  • Candidate must know Tamil
  • 10+ years of relevant experience is essential
  • Candidates should have Team Handling Experience
  • Should have excellent English communication.
