Human Resources Manager

Opportunity: Human Resources Manager

Location: Marion, North Carolina


Role Purpose:

Serve as Business Partner as part of management teams of Sevier (Marion, NC) and Hendersonville, NC sites. Work with management and employees at all levels to promote positive employee relations and high employee engagement in support of business objectives.  Provide guidance and assistance on Human Resources policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.  Manage HR metrics and reporting to assist with planning and development in order to further HR goals and strategies to hire, develop, and retain top employee talent. 


Key Accountabilities:

Human Resources Manager – Sevier and Hendersonville

  • Manage HR Coordinator and Training Coordinator
  • Recruit qualified talent for hourly wage associate and supervisory roles
  • Assist site management in employee relations including performance and talent management, rewards/recognition, and engagement.  Regular availability for all shifts.
  • Manage annual compliance reporting for sites including EEO, AAP, and VETS.
  • Assist with annual salary surveys
  • Compile HR data for various ad-hoc and on-demand reports for management and others as needed
  • Keep management up to date on any new HR related requirements or issues
  • Monitor adherence to HR policies and report issues that require action
  • Attend employee appreciation and milestone events

Workforce Planning / Recruiting / Development

  • Working with site management, prepare workforce plan, updating as business needs evolve.
  • Conduct recruitment for all site openings
  • Source candidates through job postings inside and outside of Coats also in conjunction with local job boards, networking, agencies, and technical schools/colleges/universities.
  • Partner with recruitment resources to attract and retain high-performing talent in key salaried roles
  • Maintain candidate databases (Applicant tracking system)
  • Cultivate talent pipeline with local community college (for production roles) and targeted universities, professional societies, other networking for professional/managerial roles
  • Partner with Talent & Learning to implement professional development activities to develop skills for future business needs

Culture Champion

  • Coordinate annual EES (e.g., administration, communication, executing process)
  • Partner with managers to understand results, solicit input and arrive at action plans to address “root cause” items relative to engagement
  • Facilitate initiatives to drive employee involvement and empowerment (e.g., communications, recognition, etc.)
  • Support facility Health & Safety efforts in concert with Health & Safety staff.
  • Champion wellness culture in concert with Occupational Nurse and Health & Safety staff.

HR Functional Team Projects

  • Serve as backup to Charlotte payroll manager
  • Assist with other HR administration items as needed
  • Assess current North American policies and procedures and make recommendations for changes and streamlined processes to enable more strategic HR focus
  • Support diversity and inclusion, health and wellness, and community relations initiatives
  • Any project as assigned


Physical Demands

  • Lift at least 30 pounds
  • Bend, stand, reach, kneel, squat and sit for periods of time
  • Ability to make decisions with limited information
  • Ability to work in areas without air-conditioning


Education, Qualifications and Experience:

(Essential)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant HR experience
  • Employee relations experience (e.g., investigations, performance management, disciplinary)
  • Extensive knowledge of HRIS systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR reporting.
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and follow-through on various tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel between sites as needed.

(Desirable)

  • PHR certification.
  • Experience with Success Factors, SAP and/or GlobalView HRIS.
  • Prior payroll processing experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience
