Plant Human Resources Manager

Opportunity: Plant Human Resources Manager

Location: Marion, North Carolina

Role Purpose:
To provide guidance and assistance to NA Performance Materials HR Director and plant staff on Human Resources policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.  To manage HR metrics and reporting to assist with planning and development in order to further HR goals and strategies to hire, develop, and retain top employee talent for a small and large Manufacturing Plant

Key accountabilities:
  • Provides assistance and guidance on resolving employee relations issues by partnering closely with functional managers and HR Director, and act as the secondary point of contact for employees while providing guidance, conducting investigations, recommending solutions, and analysing trends.
  • Applies and interprets policies and procedures to basic and complex employment issues. Ensures compliance to State and Federal laws. Recommends changes to policies and procedures based on business trends.
  • Provides direction to department managers regarding disciplinary actions, terminations and handling serious policy violations.
  • Performs exit interviews. Analyzes trends and provides summary reports to plant management.
  • Creates and implements process improvements, selection tools and best in class practices to increase HR contributions.
  • Works closely with Hiring managers and provides input and guidance as they make hiring decisions. Provides relevant training, coaching, and tools to improve the recruiting process focused on hourly production employees.
  • Facilitates the job requisition process to improve efficiency in time to fill. Manages the status of group requisitions process for departments, Facilities the approval process and takes proactive measures to improve time to fill.
  • Provides leadership in recruiting related special assignments including but not limited to Internet advertising, vendor selection for recruiting services, job fair participation and direct hire events.
  • Help organize and participate in community activities; built relationships with community representatives to continually promote the company as an employer of choice.
  • Creates standard and ad hoc reports as need to demonstrate recruiting effectiveness, turnover or performance improvement progress. Develops new reporting as needed. Provides support to HR Director and HR Shared Service team. This could include projects assigned by VP HR, or working on cross functional project teams.
  • Manage and coordinate the annual hourly performance review process ensuring all hourly employees understand performance expectations and that all department managers/supervisors are trained in the appraisal process. 
  • Conducts New Hire Orientation and internal training in interviewing skills, performance improvement and coaching, development planning, and other HR related topics as needed.
  • Provides key HR input into the development of plant and department strategy goals. 
  • Maintain open and candid relationships with employees at all levels to ensure matters of mutual concern are resolved. 
  • Conduct all business affairs in line with Coats North America Standards of Conduct and Coat North American Guiding Principles.

Education, Qualifications & Experience:
(Essential)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration.
  • HR Generalist experience required in a manufacturing facility.
  • Extensive knowledge of employment laws.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR reporting.
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and follow-through on various tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential business and personnel information
  • Action focused
(Desirable)
  • PHR certification.
  • Experience with SAP and/or GlobalView HRIS.
  • Prior payroll processing experience.
