Occupational Health Nurse – Sevier Plant

Opportunity: Occupational Health Nurse – Sevier Plant

Location: Sevier, North Carolina

Summary of role:
This position is an integral part of the Environmental, Health & Safety Team reporting the Manager of EH&S Sevier Plant. Responsible to participate with implementation, administration of Occupational Health related programs, services and activities. Acts as the Occupational Health Representative with site management.

Key accountabilities:
  • Oversight of plant occupational health programs and other health-related issues.
  • Supports facility leadership in their initiatives toward health, safety, productivity and engagement
  • Provides nursing service and first aid to employees or persons who become ill, injured on premises. 
  • Orders and maintains medical supplies as required.
  • Responds to and even leads on-site medical emergency response, may serve on the plant Emergency Response Team (ERT)
  • Must be available for off shift hours in emergency situations or special project assignments.
  • Assists in preparing accident and insurance reports, maintains record of persons treated, monitors occupational injuries through analysis of trends and recommend action for improvement.
  • Management of Work Related Injury/Illness Claims
  • Disability case management, modified work, early, safe return to work.
  • Develop, maintain and implement Ergonomic Program.
  • Health Surveillance Programs (Hearing Conservation Program Compliance and Respiratory Medial Compliance).
  • Controlled Substance Testing.
  • Administer and ensure compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Administer and ensure compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Skills & Expertise / Background & Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Nursing (or equivalent) Current RN License
  • Preferably prior occupational health experience 
  • High degree of proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Power Point) is essential.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, often across-functionally and have creative problem solving skills.
Physical demands:
  • Must be able to respond to medical emergencies on property
  • Must be able to push/pull > 75 lbs., in wheelchair carrying Medical equipment (O2 Tank, AED, or other medical equipment weighing 30 lbs.) with or without a patient weighing > 100 lbs. 
  • Must be able to walk while carrying medical equipment weighing 30 lbs., on uneven, slippery work surfaces. Must be able to climb up and down stairs. 
  • Must be able to kneel to administer CPR.
