Senior Cloud & Server Engineer

Opportunity: Senior Cloud & Server Engineer

Location: Global

Role purpose:

  • Working closely with the Global Head of Cloud & Server Services, this role is responsible to define the architecture of the infrastructure, server & storage to support Coats business systems globally.
  • It includes R&D, testing and must interact with external vendors, as well as internal teams.
  • This role focuses on the details of the design particular to data recovery such as backup, fail-over solution and contingency planning, and provide guideline for server installation and configuration to external vendor.
  • He/She provides Level 4 problem resolution.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic planning

  • Assist Global Head of Cloud & Server Services to evaluate new technology to determine the right tools to be used in company, including on-prem server, Cloud IaaS, Operating system, Active Directory, Network services & O365.
  • Develop policies and guidelines on Server management, including Virtualization, Cloud management, backup & contingency, fail-over solution
  • Work closely with Cyber Security Director in order to align Server and Security Strategies
  • Liaise with external companies and create RFC documentation for appropriate engagement when reviewing procurement of new solutions

Design and Build

  • Perform R&D, testing for the design, build and implementation of server systems & Cloud services
  • Propose a solution related to cloud services, Azure VM, On-prem server and operating system based on the business requirement, including budget & time constrain
  • Determine the hosting solution, including on-prem, hubs & cloud
  • Perform server sizing and capacity management
  • Maintain landscape diagram and documentation related to cloud service, server and storage
  • Participate with the project roll-out and liaise with external vendors & internal users


  • Submit change request related to On-prem server, Azure Virtual machine & Storage
  • Ensure the server (On-prem & Cloud) related design & solution are utilized and meet the business requirement within a reasonable performance
  • Provide guideline and train external vendor is following the defined process and procedure on server management, such as patching, backup
  • Comply with the cyber-security requirement to minimize the risk on server side

4th level support

  • Resolved escalated incidents ticket which cannot be solved by 3rd level support
  • Coordinate with external vendor to solve complicated issues, bugs

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience of working in a global support environment
  • Experience in technical support of operating systems, servers and equipment including system management and disaster recovery.
  • Experience in Cloud service, O365 & managing out-sourced vendors
  • With Server virtualization concepts, server patching (SCCM) and network skills such as (DNS, DHCP, Load balancing, VLAN)
  • Will be highly-motivated, strong performer
  • Strong organisational and follow-up skills and the ability to multi-task effectively in a high-volume environment.
  • Proactive, ability to use own initiative and take lead to devise creative solutions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical approach
  • Strong communication, both written and verbal
