Opportunity: Industrial Speciality Quality Control Manager


Location: Albany, Georgia


Summary of role:

To ensure that quality control processes follow global guidelines and are in stringent compliance with quality specification for all manufacturing to ensure quality products are delivered to customers and total cost of quality in minimized.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain all quality systems for the Albany Manufacturing site. This includes ensuring compliance to standard operating procedures (SOP) guidelines are in stringent compliance with product quality specifications especially in safety-critical end use applications.
  • Ensure compliance to all applicable quality Customer-specific systems and requirements.
  • Ensure compliance of all quality controlled documentation, document change activities and record retention requirements.
  • Establish and monitor effectiveness of quality systems and strategies which assure customer complaints are effectively addressed and answered in expected time frames.
  • Assure automotive system (TS-16949) requirements are met.
  • Provide direction, mentorship, training guidance and day-to-day management of the site quality team (Quality Techs and Lab personnel).
  • Oversee the Internal Audit program including maintaining an internal audit team, scheduling audits, ensuring non-conformances and opportunities for improvement are properly documented and closed out per required timing.
  • Report out all required daily, weekly and monthly quality metrics.
  • Working with Six Sigma / Lean BB to develop, implement and lead quality and continuous improvement strategies which support the overall business strategy and directly impact matrices of quality and customer service of the facility.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships resulting in excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Implement guidelines and instructions contained within the Speciality Quality Manual.
  • Support roll out of Coats global strategies for quality management.

Education, Qualifications and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or Science related field with 5-7 years of related work experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience working directly with customers and suppliers
  • Relevant staff leadership experience (5 years)
  • Experience with TS Quality Systems (5 years)
  • Experience in Advanced Quality Planning
  • Black Belt Lean/Six Sigma Certification with experience with Minitab or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading significant change within a manufacturing organisation.
  • Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications.



  • SAP QM knowledge
  • Lead Auditor certification is highly desirable
  • American Society for Quality certification
  • New Product launch experience
