Opportunity: Communications Assistant (Intern)

Location: Uxbridge, UK

Role Purpose:

The role will provide entry level experience of working within a FTSE 250 corporate environment at the global head office at Stockley Park, near Uxbridge.

The role is part of the small central Group Communications team which develops, manages and maintains high quality content, materials and tools that communicate Coats’ business strategies, key initiatives and latest announcements.  The team’s primary objective is to inform, engage and align its audiences by providing timely and creative communications.

The team is responsible for both internal and external communications as well as corporate reporting.  Its audiences are employees, media and investors.

The Communications Executive will provide pro-active support to the team on an as required basis across a range of communications activities. 

Key Accountabilities:

This role reports to the Head Group Communications and has close working relationships with many parts of the business, in particular Finance, Group Marketing, Investor Relations, Legal and Technology teams. 

  • This includes posters, templates and communications tool kits for use online and also in print at manufacturing sites around the world
  • Media coverage distribution and analysis
  • Monitor and analysis of metrics and benchmarking for projects
  • Work with suppliers to ensure successful project delivery
  • Purchase order/ invoice processing
  • Coordinating agendas for meetings, room bookings, etc
  • Maintain and refresh information decks such as Get to know your SP colleagues, Meet the Group Comms team

Education, Qualifications & Experience:


  • Degree educated / currently studying (if industrial placement)
  • Excellent written, proof reading and verbal communications skills – with UK English being the company’s primary operating language for global communications materials
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with creative/ graphic design packages and producing assets in various formats eg jpeg, pdf, vector, etc
  • Ability to work on own with minimal supervision as well as being a positive team player
