Assistant Brand Manager

Opportunity: Assistant Brand Manager

Location: Uxbridge, Greater London

Role Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to act as the primary point of contact to maintain and manage the tools and materials that support Coats overall brand positioning, across commercial and corporate campaigns, business strategies and other key initiatives

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, actively enforcing and maintaining Brand guidelines for Group Marketing and other stakeholder materials. This includes working on the active management of the Coats brand across internal and external print and digital channels.

The role is a part of the functionalised Group Marketing team, and as such experience of the full communications mix across internal and marketing communications is important. The role will require close working relationships with colleagues from relevant local markets, Clusters and Segments, as well as third party providers.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of guidelines that support engagement and understanding of the Coats brand with key stakeholders – including Customers, Investors and Employees
  • Working with the wider Group Marketing team and Clusters to provide support in implementing materials across all relevant channels and ensuring that adhere to core brand messages
  • Supporting in the delivery of projects and materials to enhance the Coats Brand through driving adherence brand guidelines and styles
  • Continually look for new ways of managing and disseminating Coats style guidelines in ways that are relevant and meaningful to employees and customers
  • Working closely with Head of Brand and Head of Marketing Communications to define and develop a programme relating to the measuring of Coats brand health and vitality
  • Managing the ongoing implementation and reporting of the programme across the organisation
  • Looking to identify areas of activity that promote employee understanding and recall of core brand essence – e.g. engage with cross functional teams and communication channels
  • Supporting with developing templates and tools which develop Coats overall brand positioning in print and online – these could include e.g. Word, Powerpoint, Email signature templates
  • Maintaining and refreshing brand assets and implementation across channels
  • Maintaining and actively managing Brand led pages on Coats World Intranet
  • Working with 3rd parties as required to further develop and create additional marketing assets
  • Working across internal and external social channels as required to promote brand engagement
  • Keeping abreast of developments in technology and wider market sector trends that could support the ongoing development and relevancy of brand and associated delivery channels
  • Working with Head of Brand to administer Coats’ global Trademark programme within the ‘One Coats’ brand approach – this will require working closely with service provider Murgitroyd and across local markets and Segments

Education, Qualifications and Experience:


  • Degree educated
  • Excellent written, proof reading and verbal communications skills – with English being the company’s primary operating language for global communications materials
  • Strong attention to detail
  • IT skills – PowerPoint, Excel, Word as well as experience working with a variety of content management systems
  • Ability to work on own with minimal supervision as well as being a positive team player
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of external/ organisational communications


  • Communications experience in a global, listed company
  • Understanding of brand and corporate identity
  • Understanding of production process – print and online
  • Experience of managing and working with external agencies
  • Experience of managing and updating websites, including working with different CMS / platforms and best practice in website governance
