Head of Corporate Reporting

Opportunity: Head of Corporate Reporting

Location: Uxbridge, UK

Role Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to deliver high quality financial and sustainability reporting for Coats Group plc.

Ensuring all reporting procedures are effective and operate robustly to meet internal and external audit and regulatory expectations consistent with a reputation for transparency and quality.

Currently this includes, but is not limited to:

  • Corporate reporting: managing year-end reporting programme across Annual Report and Full Year results. Includes project management, production and preparing section content, working with external agencies and internal stakeholders, particularly Group Finance and Co Sec, as required;
  • Sustainability reporting: working closely with Head of CR and Head of IR to provide support and guidance on delivering annual reporting programme and best practice content to support ESG reporting requirements;
  • Digital reporting: acting as primary point of contact across the corporate section of Coats.com, working with relevant stakeholder on managing, maintaining and developing best practice content to support external corporate reporting;
This role reports to the Head of Group Communication and has close working relationships with many parts of the business, in particular Group Marketing, Group Finance, Human Resources and Technology teams.

The role is a key part of a small Group Communications team based in Stockley Park, therefore experience of the full corporate communications mix across internal and external communications is important.

Key Accountabilities:

Head of Corporate Reporting role responsibilities and key activities:

  • Ensuring successful project delivery against agreed timelines and maintaining a high quality and standard – able to anticipate, identify and mitigate project risk in an appropriate, cost effective manner
  • Working jointly with stakeholders to ensure they are able to convey their message and underlying business drivers in a clear and succinct manner consistent with the Group’s strategy and priorities
  • Collaborating proactively with stakeholders and across wide range of functions – e.g. Finance / Co Sec / HR / GET – to ensure all procedures are effective and meet internal and external audit expectations
  • Managing key suppliers to ensure successful production across print and digital channels – main relationships are the Annual Report design agency, copywriter, printer and Registrars
  • Advising on the best practice format and content of printed and digital versions – with a view to deepening current digital first approach to the reporting programme
  • Content owner for key sections of the printed Report – Chairman’s Statement, CEO Statement and Principal Risk section – along with wider editorial responsibility for overall document from consistency perspective
  • Content owner and editor for all aspects of the online report – includes writing and re-purposing content, and creating rich media assets as required
  • Full Year Results – working closely with Investor Relations and Group Communications on external reporting of the FY results programme and updating corporate brand assets
  • Sustainability Reporting – working closely with Head of CR to ensure alignment with external reporting of performance and activities in the year. More broadly support Group on journey towards enhanced CSR reporting across print and digital channels to achieve industry leadership in field of Sustainability
  • Draft content for various channels, including Coats.com, around group activities, products and services that supports Group’s overall corporate reporting, positioning and strategy
  • Provide specialist communications advice and guidance to local markets as needed

Education, Qualifications and Experience:


  • Degree educated
  • Significant communications experience in a global, listed company with corporate reporting experience
  • Experience of curating and developing corporate website content, including working with different CMS’s/ platforms and best practice in website governance.
  • Experience of managing and working with external agencies
  • Significant project management experience, particularly in annual report production
  • Comfortable moving from strategic to tactical
  • Experience of working in a global organisation, with a diverse, multisite work force – cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent written, proof reading and verbal communications skills – with English being the company’s primary operating language for global communications materials.
  • An understanding of how to write for different audiences (e.g. expert and non-expert) and a range of platforms such as print, website, social media channels
  • Very close attention to detail.
  • Very strong IT skills – PowerPoint, Excel, Word as well as experience working with a variety of content management systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of production process – print and online
  • Ability to work on own with minimal supervision as well as being a positive team player
  • Strong relationship manager, both internally and with external groups.


  • Experience of working in a listed organisation with joint reporting of Prelims and Annual Report
  • Design experience and knowledge of different design tools and packages such as InDesign, the Adobe suite etc.
  • Knowledge of communications theory and frameworks, with a focus on external/ organisational communications.
  • Understanding of brand and corporate identity.
